So what are forex scams? Some people jump to the conclusion that anything that doesn’t make them rich overnight is a scam. Developing skills is not something they want to do- they are after something that is like a magic spell they can cast over their computer so it gives them money. This isn’t going to happen. The whole world would be follow such a system if it existed … and when you think about the economics, even if something like that was invented, it wouldn’t be effective for very long. This is how to look at forex trading software.

Talking realistically money doesn’t grow on trees it has to come from somewhere. Advances in technology can improve the efficiency at which goods are produced so we can all own mobile phones and televisions and have a better standard of life compared to before. But industries without a tangible product such as trading or gambling rely solely on the flow of money and nothing else from one party to another and so someone wins and someone loses.

While there is some truth that in currency trading bad trades are taken by parties or institutions that either don’t know what they are doing or do not care. Nevertheless, there are so many people and institutions in the ‘pure’ forex market these days that it is simply not possible for everybody to make money from forex trading.

So when you are in an internet forum and you are trying to decide whether negative comments that you read about a product are really a sign of a scam, it is useful to picture the situation happening in the real world, i.e. offline. Perhaps the comments where made by someone whose skill level was not high enough. Or perhaps it was the basics of forex that they didn’t really get.

Which Are The Top Forex Currencies?

The Forex (Foreign Exchange Market) exists because multi-national corporations and nations need to buy and sell goods/services from outside sources. To do that, they need to exchange their home currency with that of other nations. As you know, not all currencies have the same buying power so nations, banks, and corporations exchange their money with one another just as tourists do when traveling abroad-same concept, just a LOT bigger scale!

In fact, the Forex is the single largest financial market in the world and upwards of 1.8 trillion dollars are traded every day-between the hours of 5 p.m. EST Sunday thru 4 p.m. EST Friday. Between those hours, the Forex market is open and there are always brokers out there willing to buy and sell positions. However, unlike the NYSE, there is no centralized exchange but rather an informal network of computers supplied by investment houses, central banks, and other large players which help facilitate the trades.

The Forex market actually trades dozens of different currency pairs. The base currency is the first in the pair and was used to set up the trading account. The counter currency is the second in the pair and is sometimes referred to as the “terms” currency. A typical lot is $100,000 and an investor might be interested in the currency pair USD/CAN for instance. That means that the investor would buy $100,000 worth of Canadian dollars with the base currency (USD) at the current exchange rate in order to open a position.

While there are literally dozens of different currencies exchanged on the Forex, investors are advised to concentrate only on currencies that trade with the USD. The USD backs nearly 90% of all trades on the Forex and it is one of 8 main players in the market, including:

· British Pound Sterling (GBP)
· Euro (EUR)
· Canada Dollar (CAN)
· Australian Dollar (AUD)
· Swiss Franc (CHF)
· New Zealand Dollar (NZD)
· Japanese Yen (JPY)

By sheer volume alone, the USD/EUR and USD/GBP are the two most popular currency pairs on the Forex based upon volume. However, this does not necessarily mean that they are always the best investment options at any given time. The currency pairs with the greatest pip movement are also the most volatile and risky. The trick for any investor is to identify the currency pair that has the greatest potential for pip movement with the least volatility. Only analysis of technical data can provide that information but there are brokers out there offering this information as part of their service package so it is a very good idea to see what is offered before signing up with any specific broker.

Again, the most popular currencies are not always going to be the most profitable so be sure to analyze a lot of charts and track price movements between different pairs over the same period of time to help find the best pair for you which will provide the greatest profit potential and the least volatility.

Start Forex with $500?

I am very new to investment. But since I have strong interest in the financial market, I decided to use $500 (the amount I can let go if I fail) and lean from actual trading…

… OK, I really want to make some money.

I thought I would do stocks, but since I have to pay $10-13 commission through online brokers, $500 initial deposit will go away pretty soon. And I want to start making money fast. So, I am now thinking about foreign exchange.

There are terms that I do not know. Would you please explain what Spreads and Pips are?

If I use online trading like FXCM for USDJPY, how much are they going to charge?

Which currency has the most return (most risk)?

I want to know your experiences.

I know I sound stupid because I do not know anything. I am sure many of you will say to put the money in CD or mutual fund. But I am looking for a way to make money instantly.

I first want to commend you for already realizing one of the most important elements in trading Forex…..only risk money that you can afford to lose.

A few of my students are using micro accounts with GFT and this may be perfect for an account the size of yours.

I like to utilize conservative strategies that reduce market risks, generate an interest payment everyday and minimize the amount of time it takes to manage one's account (about 30 minutes per week).

I am in india. Please state how to trade in stocks and commodities in International Stock/commodity Exchanges?

I am in India. I am interested to trade in stocks and commodities traded(listed) in stock/commodity exchanges of different nations? Is it Possible? Which of the stock Exchanges offer trading facility to other nationals? If so, Please elaborate on the procedures, terms and conditions towards the same? I shall make payments only in Indian Rupees only? If so is there any ways and means to convert the Indian nation Rupees into foreign currency for the purpose of investing in stocks and commodities of investing nations and vice versa into indian Rupees? What are the rules towards the same in India? Also spell out a few service providers(institutions/brokers) operating on this field?

Several questions about forex?

Hello everyone,
I want to start trading forex and I am still hesitating about a lot of things.
First, most people say they have bad experiece trading forex.
I know that even Warren Buffet (I don't know how to spell it exactly:)) said that: "In stocks you could predict the price of a stock, but how can you predict the price of currency")-
That in fact sounds very reasonable since we all know that in shares it's enough to read a news that some company has planned to invest some money in Rolls Royce…to say…and then you buy shares from Rolls Royce…But wherefrom you can guess that USD will not find a way up again?
Some people say that the forex brokers have very high commisions and thus you can never win? Is it me or this sounds very stupid?
How about you? What was the amount of money you started and how much you have earned?

Warren Buffett may not play the FOREX market but he did convert a lot of his money to Euros to hedge against the falling US dollar. The only difference is that most forex trading is done on margin. He just converted his money, he didn't leverage it as far as I know. He also bought a lot of silver a few years ago to hedge against the falling dollar. So he obviously found it easy to predict the price of the US $.

Most people that trade forex are introduced and "taught" by the brokerage firms that want them to execute as many trades as possible. Common brokerage fee in the industry is 3 pips which equates to approximately $30 USD for a $1,000 trade at a 1:100 leverage (example using EUR/USD). This is about 3%. Many traders do swing trading or interday trading. They may do several trades a day. Even doing two trades a week can hurt. 2 trades a week x 52 weeks = 104 trades a year. 3% x 104 trades = 312%. Hard to make any money when doing a lot of trading!

So why would anyone make several trades a week? Why not determine where the price of a currency pair is heading over the next 3+ months (based on whether interest rates will rise or fall according to the comments by respective banks). Have plenty of money to back up your highly leveraged account. Also, not leveraging your account as much makes it easier to absorb any negative price action. But sooooo many people start off by being told to enter and exit trades quickly so they make as many trades as possible. I believe you should invest for the long term and have enough money to support the fallbacks that will inevitably occur. A long term strategy in forex can work. But you must have enough money so you do not get called out of the trade (margin call). Forex is extremely risky. I wouldn't bet the farm on it. You can still make a ton of money by investing in stocks, if you find the right stocks. You don't need to go into forex to make money. Forex is like investing in real estate except the market value of the property can go up or down very quickly and the bank will instantly foreclose. At least in real estate they don't instantly foreclose the second the house has depreciated a little due to a down turn. In the end, it's all about the leverage. Due to the extremely high leverage allowed in forex trading there is an opportunity to lose or make money very quickly. Most fail from what I have heard.

You could also find a forex broker that is a public company (I never actually looked to see if any are!) and just buy the stock… that way you can make your 3% of other people's money on each of their trades.

Forex Trading Guidelines

There are some guidelines you must read before entering foreign exchange market. Following these guidelines will make you a better prepared forex trader.

1. Plan your trades

Plan your entry/exit to the market, plan when you will sell for losses, plan where your maximum profits will be. Professional trader must be discipline.

2. Market trend is a friend

Don’t ever argue over the trend. When the trend is up go for a buy and when the market trend is going down then go for a sell. You’ll get no losses as long as you follow the trend.

3. Focus on your capital

This is the most important, do not be greedy considering your capital is on the open. Use only 10%-30% of your capital. Don’t exceed 50% of your capital, because you can’t retain the market ups and downs and you will in the margin.

4. Know when to stop losses

If you made a mistake in the analysis, sell it, and let it happen. Don’t hold on a false hope that the price will go up. This false-hope condition can cause a very great loss. When you re-enter the market, make sure your stop-loss position, and when you have to let your money go to take your losses.

Just like the other, in forex you’ll win and you’ll lose, but don’t lose till you’re broke.

5. Take up gains when the trade is going up

Before you enter the market, decide how much profit you will gain. When you enter the gain you wanted, close your position. Just let the price wanders around and don’t fall on false hope.

6. Don’t be rational with your feeling

The most common enemy of trader is greed and scare. Don’t let this two overrule you or be ready to have -$100 from $100 in your account. Professional trader won’t ever show his emotion, you won’t even know whether he’s taking profit or losing money just by the look in his face.

7. Don’t trade because of signal from a friend or broker.

Trading fall on your own analysis, signal is only an opinion, don’t make signal your main concern.

8. Make a note

Write things you buy and sell, and write down why it had to be executed. When you accomplish or fail, look up your notes again. Your trading skill will develop far better.

9. Don’t enter the market when you’re in doubt

When you don’t know where you’re going, try to sit quite and analysis until you are sure. Stand back usually is the best way.

10. Don’t exceed your capabilities in trading

In a single moment, having 3-5 position is normal, not more, cause opening up position will blur you and lose control and your feeling will rule your logic. For beginners try to play only with a pair of currency.
